Lucy, I don’t know you personally but I accepted your invitation as a friend on good good faith.
I am saddened to read what you are writing about someone I admire and have known for many years. Most of what you complain about is normal legal business practice. Photographers own every picture they take. Napping at births is “allowed”. I am sure you midwife might nap if things are going well and there is nothing that needs to be done for a few minutes. If you wanted every second of your birth photographed you should have had someone record a video instead of have a professional birth photographer. Photographers have the right to not publish photos that they feel are not of a quality that would credit their art.
I am so sorry you are so unhappy with her, but you might want to think carefully about continuing with the slander/libel you are engaging in.
I will be removing you from my friend’s list as I don’t think we have anything in common after all.

Lucy, you are continuing to be very unkind. I don’t even know you yet because I disagree with you you make ugly comments at me. I know nothing about the money. As a business person I know how easy it is to get behind on accounts. You are not her only client. Your payment is not the only one she has received. I am sure that if you discussed it reasonably with her it can be sorted out. Attacking her is not helpful for either of you and makes you look unkind and mean.
As far as the rest is concerned I’m afraid it is true. The pictures a professional photographer takes are their property. She may sell you the copyright but otherwise it belongs to her. I know MANY professional photographers. That’s how they have to protect their work. It is not the same as you taking snaps of your friends on holiday!
I am going to finish this now as I realize that you are not about to listen to me. You are obviously angry but I will warn you, that you are really going a little far with this. You are on dicey legal ground. Slander/libel are serious charges.

Dear Lucy,
I am really sorry that you feel you were cheated or misled or not given what you were entitled to with your birth photography. I am quite amazed at some things that you have written when just a few weeks ago you were singing high praises of Lynsey trying to win a FREE photo book from her blog contest. Your birth photos are beautiful and capture the emotion that I am sure was present the day your baby was born. I am sure you did your homework before hiring Lyns and could see that she doesn’t take “posed” pictures. An amazing gift was given to you as promised. I am sure the stress and strain of being a new mom must be wearing you thin and causing this sudden laps in judgement on your part. You and the Lucy that is pictured on Lynsey’s blog cannot be the same person. I didn’t see any horns in any of those pictures.
A note about verbal contracts, emails, voicemails and texts. Lynsey keeps amazing records. I would be careful about making allegations that you have NO proof to back up. I am quite sure if you had actual texts or emails containing promises from Lynsey that you would have already posted them for all to see. But you have nothing because Lynsey has practiced her photography business consistantly since the beginning. Many clients have asked for digital copies of pictures but they have all been given the same answer as you, “NO”! The reason is simple and makes perfect since to any good photographer. Digital copies are not given because ignorant people will post the photos with their own cropping or editing and make a fabulous picture look horrible and post the pictures saying it was taken by Lyns but leave off that they just screwed up the photo with their non professional editing.
As far as your stealing accusations. The last time I checked a tip is not stealing. And when a crazy person asks for the tip back and is told YES ofcorse I will send it with your FREE book you won, then it’s not not not not not stealing. Stealing is however, taking photos with clearly visiable copyright info and cropping it off.
Please take a step back from all your lies and slander and threats. Do you really want to be known as “that girl that threw a fit, lied lied lied, and slandered all for nothing”
You have made one true statement. You didn’t get what you paid for. You got Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyy more. Lynsey’s work is valued far above her asking price. And to be honest, she doesn’t even do it for the money. God gave her this gift and she is obedeiently using that gift. It’s a shame she has to put up with people like you and your husband, a real shame.
