I was able to pull some of Paul Child’s photos with the following search on Google:

"paul child" artist images

However, I see your frustration–there doesn’t seem to be much of his work out there.

Good Luck

I’m a college student looking to make my own hours and money. How difficult is it to get a small photography business started? What would I have to do?

if you are a good photographer then you shouldn’t have any problems. word of mouth is a good and cheap advertisement to you. you will have to have great equipment and have the necessary software on your computer to get the pictures printed and made into an album and those kinds of things. great pictures and good turn around time are the most important thing. start with doing birthday parties, weddings and anything else you can get. get some tips from the sba on how to start a small business and always keep good records for your business. good luck!

MUSASHI Business Consulting ltd.

You can look at the better business bueruea. Also, you can always do a google search about the company. We actually spoke to friends about the company I became part of, to see if they heard of it. All of our friends said that if we could get into it we needed to and they were not part of the company at all. Just a few tips, hope they help!

In some photography courses in Uni, you need to have a portfolio to be able to get into the uni.. but i havent done a photography portfolio before.
What does it need to include?
thanks.

A portfolio is simply a collection of your work.

A good portfolio has a wide range of pictures; such as landscape, fsshion, commercial, still life, etc…

pet photphotography and nature photography thats what i do

Want a revelation? Go to every successful photography studio you can find. Ask them if they got their name from Yahoo Answers. They will probably say WHAT??? Or maybe just laugh at you. Or maybe even give you a deserved punch in the nose.

(Looks up to the ceiling and asks if this never ending stream of people who cannot even name their business will ever stop).

Of course I use the word "business" in it’s most loose of terms.

I am starting my own business from home doing photography. I told two different things: I was told I needed to get an attorney and I was told by a photographer that I did not need to do that. I know there will be certain things that I will have to do as far as taxes go, but what do I need to do to make this legal?

Part of the question will depend on whether you are using your house as an office/developing lab or whether you will also have a customers coming there for sittings. Start by checking with your local zoning board as to the local restrictions on operating a home-based business. Most localities allow you to operate your offices, etc. out of your home without any run around, but once you start having customers come to the door, then they want a zoning variance (extra traffic, etc.).

Next you need a business license, which is usually issued by the state. You might want to look into being bonded (I assume you will be taking deposits up front), and also insured against accidents (falling on an ice cube during a wedding reception and breaking your head). Also, you might want to get extra insurance on your house to cover your photo equipment (in case of theft - most house policies will cover theft out of your car, etc., but you should talk to your agent about this).

Check the IRS page about getting a tax ID and also look into getting incorporated (S-Corp or similar).

Definitely register the name of your business so no one else can take it, and also, look into copyright laws (the pictures are your creation and as such, you own the copyright - you want to be able to protect your work).

At some point, you will want an attorney to look over everything you have done and suggest other necessities and you will want an accountant for your books, but these can probably wait.

Check with the SBA (website www.sba.gov) where there is great info on starting a small business and also check with SCORE (www.score.org) who can also provide assistance.

Hi everyone!

I’m currently a BFA in photography, and want to explore a career in animal- oriented photography. really want to help with rescue organizations for abandoned/neglected pets using my photography.

So…if anyone has any recommendations of great, well accomplished pet photographers, whould would like an unpaid intern for this upcoming summer in any of these areas, let me know!

PS-
Willing to travel, do not have to be paid/housed.

Thanks!

schools.medianewsonline.com - I found such internship info here. It has lots of internships, job openings and scolarships for college students.

My name is Brittany and I am starting up a photography business. What should it be called? I would like my name to be included and I want it to sound catchy. My middle name is Jean, so that could be used too. Thank you!

I bet you can count on the fingers of one finger all the businesses that have been successful when they had to come on a place like this and ask for a name. The whole concept is absurd.

I will give you the answer I always give to this never ending question. Call it "Doomed to Fail".

If you cannot even come up with a name, how on Earth do you expect to cope with the myriad other decisions / problems / hurdles that you will face as a business. Do you have any background at all in running a business? Just taking photos is only a tiny part of a successful photography business.

In a year or so from now when your "business" is just a bad memory and you have lost lots of money, and maybe even have a lawsuit against you, then you can remember this answer.

I’ll be waiting for your hate email back to me, which only goes to reinforce my point.

I am interested in getting into the photography field, so I am looking for my first good quality entry level camera.

I will mostly be taking pictures of family and friends, sporting events, pets and action shots on a Fire scene (I am a fire fighter).

Any suggestions??

Canon Rebel XS or Nikon D3000 are good Digital SLR camera for beginner.Easy to use, take good picture quality and not too expensive.

I was thinking maybe I could minor in photography and then major in child psychology… YES I know they are two TOTALLY DIFFERENT things, but they are things that I love. So I was wondering, if I were to minor in photography then major in child development, what university or college should I go to? I was aiming high like for Oxford University… but then I wasn’t sure if they provided classes or whatever for both… help?

Oxford is a speculative option, unless of course, you’re getting straight A’s at Alevel. Bristol, Nottingham, Durham, and Warwick are all very good for those courses.
Good luck in your search.
